Ladybird Farm is excited to announce the official start to the 2024 CSA season! Entering our fifth year we’re excited for the upcoming growing season and the garden’s bounty.
While the vegetables won’t come until May the planning starts now and CSA shares are available. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is an important tool for farmers to be able to secure the funds they need to operate, and offer customers a unique way to experience purchasing and consuming fresh, local food.
A Little About Us…
Ladybird Farm is committed to working with nature to provide the community with access to local, healthy, high-quality food. We grow environmentally responsible food, relying on beneficial insects and bug netting for pest control, along with compost, cover crops and reduced tillage to build spoil fertility.
The Season…
The 2024 CSA season will go from May 29th through October 30th, except for a week in late July/early August when we take a little break. Pick-up details will be finalized before the start of the season, but preliminary plans are pick-ups in downtown Crozet on Wednesday evenings between 5:30-6:15pm. Expect a Farmers’ Market style setup where you get to pick your own share from the veggies in season.
2024 CSA Pricing
Full Share, $575: This option is great for those who want to join a CSA but have more choice in what they get. Build your own CSA share with 6-7 items from what is available. Good option for a family or avid vegetable consumers.
Half Share, $325: This option is great for smaller families, individuals, or those looking to supplement their own garden production. Pick 3-4 items from what is available.

Necessary Details
In farming there are lots of variables that must be endured. We do our best to grow a wide variety of vegetables, providing the right growing conditions and creating the proper environment to reduce pest pressure, but sometimes things just don’t work out and a crop might not be available. Joining a CSA is a great way to support local farms and experience seasonal food, but is a season long commitment and refunds are not available. If you have any questions about what to expect from the season, or how the garden operates, please feel free to email [email protected]
